Rules
TopBites is a public leaderboard. There are no ads, no API keys, and no revenue share. You pay to stand above every other restaurant and café. Rank is the bid — nothing else.
How ranking works
- New listings are whole US dollars, $1 minimum on an empty board, $999,999 maximum, $1 at a time. Bids already on the board keep their amount until they raise or get outranked.
- Taking #1 costs at least $5 more than the current top bid. Paying less still puts you on the board at whatever rank that bid can take. Hover any listing to claim that exact rank — #2 and below cost $1 more than the current bid there. No two listings on a board can share the same bid. If that dollar is taken, bid the next open amount.
- Enter the same website again to raise that listing to any rank. The new bid must be at least $1 above your current bid; you only pay the difference. Someone else cannot take your rank by paying that difference.
- Tracking query strings are ignored when matching a listing, so a campaign URL cannot take a separate rank from the clean site.
What you can list
- A restaurant, café, bakery, bar, or other eating and drinking business — on that venue’s own website. We check the page on submit.
- Social profiles, link-in-bio pages, and delivery or review aggregators are not allowed. Use the venue site, not Instagram, TikTok, Linktree, Yelp, or DoorDash.
- Chat and invite links are not allowed — Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Messenger, Signal, and similar. The board is for venues, not group chats.
- Links to sexual content are not allowed. If it is porn, NSFW, or an adult platform, it does not belong on the board.
- Query parameters are stripped from listing links. Affiliate, referral, and tracking URLs will not work.
- Link shortener URLs are not allowed. If you submit one, it is replaced by the URL it redirects to.
Food type categories
- Every listing picks one food type — pizza, ramen, coffee, and the rest of the catalog. That is the category, not a free-text tag.
- World and city boards can be filtered by food type. Rank inside a type is still the bid.
Boards and resets
- The World board never resets. City boards last the calendar year and reset on 1 January. City bids return to zero for the new year.
- Just before a city reset we snapshot the board into a public Year Review. Those reviews stay up permanently.
After you pay
- A completed payment is what claims the rank.
- Buying a bid means you agree to these rules. We may remove listings that break them without a refund. The only refunds are listed on the Refunds page.
